Daily Devotion: Speak with Grace
Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. (Colossians 4:6)
In a world that often embraces harshness and negativity, we are called to stand out as men of grace. Our words carry immense power. They can build up or tear down, heal or hurt, inspire or discourage. The Apostle Paul reminds us to let our speech be gracious and seasoned with salt. What does this mean for us today?
To speak graciously is to reflect the love of Christ in our conversations. It means choosing words that uplift and encourage rather than words that demean or belittle. As men, we have the opportunity to set the tone in our families, workplaces, and communities. When we speak with kindness and respect, we create an environment where others feel valued and understood.
Seasoning our speech with salt indicates the importance of wisdom and discernment. Just as salt enhances flavor, our words should enhance the lives of those around us. They should be thoughtful and intentional, leaving a lasting impact. In every interaction, we can be a source of light and hope, pointing others to the goodness of God.
Today, let us commit to speaking with grace. Before we respond, let us pause and reflect on how our words can honor God and bless others. May we be men who are known for our graciousness, seasoned with the salt of wisdom, so that our speech may bring glory to His name and draw others closer to Him.
