Daily Devotion: Perseverance in Goodness

Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap... (Galatians 6:9).

In a world that often seems to reward the quick and the flashy, the call to do good can sometimes feel like a wearying burden. Yet, brothers, let us remember the promise embedded in Paul’s words: “in due season we will reap.” This is not just a hopeful sentiment; it is a divine assurance that every act of kindness, every moment of integrity, and every ounce of love we pour out will bear fruit.

Life can be challenging. There may be days when our efforts feel unnoticed or unappreciated. We might encounter discouragement as we strive to uplift others or stand firm in our convictions. However, we must hold fast to the truth that our labor is not in vain. Each small act of goodness contributes to a greater purpose, even when the results are not immediately visible.

Consider the farmer who plants seeds in the ground. He does not see the fruit overnight, nor does he abandon his field at the first sign of weeds. Instead, he cultivates and nurtures his crop with patience, trusting that the harvest will come. Similarly, we are called to cultivate goodness in our lives and the lives of others, trusting that God will bring forth a harvest in His perfect timing.

So today, let us resolve to press on. Let us not grow weary in doing good. The world needs our light, and God promises that our efforts will yield a rich harvest. Stand firm, be steadfast, and remember: the best is yet to come.
